Some Flowers For Little Amelie

My friend Hans and his wife Ute have asked me if I would make a quilt for their newborn godchild Amelie. Of course I would - besides that I never wouldn´t have said no - since they are such great friends to me.

Ute asked for some apple-green and thats the fabric I have to make a pick for the project

For this projec tI always had the wonky logcabin in my mind

Name got appliqued....

.... and so some flowers

the orange was originally planned as sashing...... but somehow - after adding the sashing - the quilt looked kinda finishd to me and so it did to many more wonderful ladies I´ve asked for their opinion - so lets sandwich the layers

with a few night hours working to bind the quilt, I finished it just in time to be hand over on Amelies baptism

I hope Amelies parents like this quilt - I´m looking forward to get a feedback from them

Trip To Buttinette -> Germanys "Joanns"

Buttinette is a online-shop where you can buy all kinds of crafty things (well you can also order via telefone, fax or mail) and they have one shop at their place of business.

thats the catalog I normally browse through..... over 500 pages

On a Saturday in September we finially set the date for our trip to Buttinette - we even had a chauffeur (Mariannes husband, Nicoles Dad). He offered to drive us, even after we warned him that it might take some time until we would be done shopping. Still willing to drive us, because he will go for a walk while we are shopping (poor guy - it start pouring down pretty much after we got in the store and didnt stop for the whole time we were in the store, so he was patiently waiting in the car).

After a fun ride through the smallest streets (I guess the Navigation was set for shortest way) we arrived at Germanys "Joanns"

they even have a seperate store for Fasching (carneval) and costumes (still closed since Fasching starts at 11.11. every year)

the store we want to go

the store aint very big and they would sell alot more if it would´ve been placed in the shop not just the warehouse. The stuff is very friendly and they run to the warehouse to get all the things you want (they run alot). It still took us 2 h for 700 sqm

on the way home we stopped for lunch - it was yummieh

here are my goodies I bought - thank you to Nicole for the giftcard (as you can see the money was wisely invested - lol)

It was a fun day and we decided to do it once a year - just for the fun.

Thank You Gift For Emma

This little fellow I made for my quilting friend Emma - she gave me a big bag of batting scraps to use as stuffing but some of the scraps still will be used as batting for lil projects.

Sadly Emma and her husband moved back to the US .........I really need to get to the point on my To-Do-List where it says "catching up with emails"........... well I must admit, that I have been a lousy friend over the last few month.

Those two lucky ones were able to visit the QuiltCon in Austin and even from there I have received some goodies - you guys are awesome!

not to forget to mention the valentines-letter/picture my handsome godchild Soren has sent for me.

More Batting Scraps

While I was stuffing my X-mas trees I run out of batting scraps - well I still have a huge bag of wadding to use. But my quilting friend Emma offered me a bag of batting scraps she wanted to get rid off.

THANK YOU EMMA

There are still pieces in there - big enough to make something out of them besides using them as scraps. I already have a idea to make you something in return ;)

Wedding-/Memory-Quilt

Well I wasnt sewing alot during summer but at least this much, to get this quilt started in finshed just in time. The deadline was September, 16th and yay me, I finished this quilt one week before (I havent known that a year passes by so fast - sigh). Micha & Andy got a gift coupon on their wedding for a surprise within a year but at the latest on their first Anniversary

Happy Anniversary Micha & Andy

The Officially Inauguration Of My Deckchairs

I got those deckchairs for my birthday (not too easy to get them in Germany) and after painting them (since I couldnt be picky about the color) I had them out for quite a while until we found a day for the offical inauguration (well I hope I picked the right word ??) of the deckchairs.

Marianne came over brought great Cocktails and some handsewing for the afternoon
(btw. here is the finished wooden barrel)

my Mom kept us company

and the cats hung around also

It was a great and fun August-afternoon with some handsewing and nice chatting.

Green Night 2012

Really?!?! It has been over a month since my last post?!?! Where did the time go?!?! I have lots of pics taken and all I need to find is some time to do some posting.

So lets get started..... the Green Night happened to be in Juni while my friend Nicole and kids were still here (miss you guys!!!). Downtown Ansbach is put in green, green lights, green blinkys, lightshows, historic sights are open, bands are playing and its quite some fun.
