A Bit Late

I hope you all had a great Christmas and were able to spent some time with your loved ones!
In Germany we celebrate Christmas on December 24th. My Mom and I spent Christmas-eve at my sisters house - went to church and had dinner with my sister and her family. Me, for my part had croquettes (no those arent any bugs *lol*) and veggies - the rest of them had cow tongue - they think its delicious.......... sorry but I cant eat this......... it grosses me out. I´m already happy that my sister wont put the whole tongue on the table - she puts slices of it on a plate.

I havent sewn alot either - just some Wichtels for my sister and I have finally finished my mini-quilt for the swap. Can you believe it - I forgot to take pics of those Wichtels at home?!?! Sorry for the blurry pic I took it with my cell phone after my sister has unwrap them

I made a doily for her in those blue wintercolors last christmas

Saturday I brought one of our shy barn cats to the vet clinic - I havent seen him for a while and the only place I´m allowed to touch them is at their feeding corner and I was shocked just bones and a bit fur around it. After I cought him (I felt so sorry for him because it was more a hunting) I took him home - well he ate a little bit and I gave him some water with an injection into his mouth............the vet diagnosed an 4" long inoperable tumor at the stomach exit/intestine. So they put him down right away - I felt so sorry for this little guy but on the other side I was able to safe him at least some hours of suffering.

And my car broke down on the weekend and I had to call ADAC (AAA) - the "gelbe Engel" (yellow angel) came after an hour to check my car but there was nothing the guy could do an he called the towing service - its a good thing to be a member of ADAC because I dont have to pay anything for this service - well only replacement parts if needed.  The first thought it might be something wrong with the fuel pump but its the atomizer valve - thats what they said in the garage today. They cleaned them instead of replace them and if I still have the problem I need to come back. Well yeah..... if I need the towing service again because my car brakes down in the middle of nowhere a fury Karin will strike them......

Fighting The Wood Worm

I finished my sandpaper job on my treasure chest last night. One last time a mess with the fine dust and yeeahhh I´m done with it.

Look how pretty the chest looks - if I dont close up *lol*

front

side

back

Now its time to fight against those little wood munching, rich on protein worms. I could take the chest into a sauna with 60 C and higher to get those wood worms killed (temperatrue melts the protein). Since I dont have a sauna in my house - how would it look like if I would take the chest to a public sauna *lol*. So I decided to fight with the chemical weapon

Re-newed

After I got back from my vacation - I went to my LTS to get my new tattoo checked - everthing is ok but I like to have a little change at a part of the tattoo

Besides this little correction I will get my 17 year old tattoo re-newed, the colors have faded and I would like to have the fresh red and green again

I will tell you more about it - after the coming weekend ;-)

Something From My Grandma

I start cleaning out another corner of our house. My parents kept drawers from my Grandma with stuff in it and actually my Dad was suppose to go through it, what never happened. Well...... its not like my Grandma passed away recently..... no it was almost 16 years ago. I found some pics of my Grandparents golden wedding party and of course I will keep them, some stuff to through away and some wooden thread spools

I wonder how old they are because I cant really remember my Nana sewing or fixing stuff. She were totally into knitting, crocheting, gardening and her bees. Anyways I will keep them as treasure in my sewing room.

Update Fall Inspired Mini-Quilt-Swap

This weekend I kept on working on my mini-quilt. The top is done and the layers sandwiched - I cant show you all since its secret, so here is just a little peek

Beef Jerky

Every time I´m visting my friend Nicole + family I also cant resist to purchase some Beef Jerky - I dont know why but somehow I like this taste. While my last visit at Nicoles I mentioned it that I would like to make some from scratch and we made our own selfmade beef jerky. It tasted quite good and of course I had to make some back home in Germany too.

I used a different recipe with Worcester Sauce instead of Teriyaki Sauce. It taste good (even Bizkit likes it and he is VERY picky about food) but I liked this Beef Jerky with teriyaki sauce much better.

Working On My Treasure Chest

The last week I kept working on my treasure chest I bought at a flea market couple month ago. After I cleaned it up the demage on the paint was more worse than I thought and I decided to sandpaper the whole chest.

In the meantime I´m already done with the backside and half of the front. Hopefully I will finish the sandpaper-job this week - so I can start with the wood worm treatment and working on the hardeware.

My Neighbour Turned 50!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Rudi !!!

I´m only home for a few days and a second squishy envelope was in the mailbox. This defently means that the content is something for my soul. I have already received my mini quilt from Sylvia from the Netherlands organized by Quilting Gallery.

This mini is so cute - great colors and I can feel lots of love in it. I also got a mini pair of those typical dutch clogs. Thanks alot Sylvia for this great mini quilt and the mini clogs *hugs*

Ik was een zeer gelukkige persoon om dit prachtige miniquiltje te ontvangen (I´m better in reading/understanding than writing because I have no clue about dutch grammar)

Sylvia wrote me that she is going to live a dreams of her..... an own Internetshop.... she will be starting in January 2010.

When I cought up with my job - I will have some more time to browse a bit more through her blog and enjoy all the pretty things she made or working on.

Little Treasures

On one of our trips to Austin Nicole, Soren and I stopped at IKEA looking for a desk for Chiara. They had alot of neat desks but nothing with character and this was what Nicole was looking for. On they way back we passed a cute little village named Florence and at the corner antique store "Cowboys & Angels" I saw a little desk outside. I told Nicole there is a little desk but we have already passed it. No problem 4x right turn and we were at the store again. This desk had character but would it fit in the trunk - of course it fit in perfectly - a sign that it needs to be Chiaras new desk.

couple days later, when the girls went back to school Nicole and I started to clean and sandpapering it with the help of a busy little man

once in a while Soren took a break to pay your work with hugs and flowers

and after a few days of work Chiaras desk was finished - better looking and more character as any desks at IKEA

...... Chiara loves her new desk

Hiking Trail And Sunset

At my last Sunday here we took of to Chalk Ridge Hiking Trail - a little place where you are allowed to walk and no sign "Private Property". Me as an outdoor person have enjoyed this little trail and of course you always find things you can take pictures off.

quite adventures - should I try ???

Well - if I would´ve found a tree like this in Germany and wouldn´t have kids with me - yeah I would´ve walked over this tree

I love this wooden bridge

I think the kids had their fun - running around, throwing rocks, try to catch a fishes and petting them, playing at the waters edge

and me still thinking about if I should´ve walked over the tree!

on the way back home we stopped at Stillhouse Hollow Lake - we had such a great view from there......

..... and a great sunset

..... we also had company *lol*
